T
his listing is for a vintage tenor saxophone mouthpiece. This is a ivory/white plastic piece (sometimes referred to as "Tonalin"). I think it was made in the 1950's or 60's. That is when white plastic mouthpieces were most in vogue. This piece has undercut inner side walls, and an arch top chamber chamber.
This mouthpiece is
in fair condition. It has definitely been refaced. It is an OK player, but it could probably be made better.
The tip opening is .078".
The tip, table, and rails are perfectly smooth. There is no tooth wear on the beak. The exterior is covered in what I'd call superficial cracks. It's almost like a cracked eggshell appearance. It doesn't seem the least bit in danger of breaking apart. I think it's just something about whatever the material is that it looks that way, and it is probably more evident because it is white. This mouthpiece has been cleaned/sanitized.
Please feel free to email me with any questions.
Thanks again for looking!
Note to international buyers:
Due to the current global pandemic, international shipments via USPS mail are experiencing significant delays. This is due to lack of available transportation (ie. mail is normally carried overseas as cargo on commercial passenger flights, however the flight schedules have been slashed). European buyers have experienced wait times of up to 2 months for shipments to arrive. If this potential wait presents a problem for you, please refrain from purchasing at this time. I sincerely apologize for this, unfortunately unavoidable, inconvenience.
