Description
Available for sale is a Brilhart Tonalin alto sax mouthpiece from the Great Neck era. The serial number puts it somewhere around 1943.As you can see much of the markings are worn, but the Great Neck NY stamp is largely intact, as is the S/N. There's also wear on the bite plate, which is covered by the pad. Otherwise tip and rails are all in good condition, and there's no sign of a crack in the shank. Brilhart was one of the top mouthpiece manufacturers of its day, and the pieces made at the Great Neck factory are among their best. Tonalin mouthpieces from this era can be quite hard to find, especially ones with intact shanks, as the Tonalins are more prone to developing cracks than the Ebolins.
This piece was originally manufactured as a 5*, but at some point in the past was refaced to a 6*.
