    Description

    This auction is for an original Lionel ZW 275 Watt Transformer in its original orange box.  Lionel manufactured the ultra-powerful ZW, capable of operating 4 trains at once, from 1948 to1966.  The orange box dates this to the 1960s.
    It has been professionally serviced / tested,  and is ready to go.
    If you examine the photo of the base you'll see the sticker indicating this issue of the ZW was made especially for the Los Angeles CA area, which makes this transformer very rare. Information about this sticker was obtained from the Greenberg book written by Alan Stewart titled: Lionel Trains 1945-1969, Volume VI: Accessaries. There is a photo in the book on page 131 of the very same sticker.
    This is the top-of-the-line Lionel powerhouse and it looks excellent in appearance The base shows almost no scratching/scuffing at the edges, indicating this piece has not seen a lot of use. The power cord is original and pliable.  It is very clean. The power cord has some orange paint on one side of the plug-in, and the ends of the 4 common poles on the transformer have their very tips painted orange.
    The original box shows  shelf wear around the edges, and there is ¾ inch cut at the very bottom of the base on one long side, for almost the entire length. There are no punctures. There is some faint writing on top, along with some tape residue.
    Rounding out the package is a complete set of 4 original inserts that have no tears, and which help keep the transformer secure within the box. One tall insert has some scribbling on it.
    In the final analysis, please examine the enlargeable pictures closely and let the photos be your final guide to evaluate this ZW and box.
