This is a Brian Powell and Erik Greiffenhagen creation, in a 7 tip opening which measures .082. The original design draws on Meyer Bro and Meyer NY mouthpieces, it has a fat sound with terrific projection and an expressive edge. What makes this piece sing is the hand finishing from Brian Powell.
Having played a few NYC alto pieces, I preferred the tone of the resin to the rubber casting for this model, for my ear it is closer to the NY alto sound, it has a shine, a sparkle to the sound I like. This example will appeal to players who like alto mouthpieces with lower beaks, it has a fantastic facing and it plays really well.
