    Description

    This
Offer is an American Flyer Model Railroading Transformer, #8B, with a Heavy Duty Replacement Power Cord. From about 1950.
The Handle is original, in dark red, or maroon color. The Transformer is Used, Tested Working, with Rough Cosmetics.
This was mine, from about 70 years ago; I played with the American Flyer set often, for a decade. My Dad, an electrician, replaced the power cord at some point. The cord is nice, and about 90 inches long. A single section of straight AF track with wires soldered on for reliable connection to the Transformer is included in this offer.
The Transformer is rated for 100 watts output; I didn’t test this. I did measure the output voltage, with our 120 VAC house power: The accessory output measured 16.2 VAC. The rheostat controlled output for the tracks measured 0-15 VAC over the range, and 16.3 VAC with afterburner. A model train engine ran just fine.
The Reset Button interrupts the output. The Green Lamp is good. I did not test the Red Lamp.
Condition is Used, Tested, Working. It has a good cord and plug. Paint is worn off the base, and scratched here and there. The shiny parts have some corrosion sites. The brass connection lugs are good. See the pictures.
