This listing is for a set of two (2) 10K (B10K) ohm RV097NS-series linear-taper potentiometers. These low-profile pots are
sealed
, meaning no dust-covers needed and no openings for dust and debris to get inside the pot. These guys will be working perfectly long after other pots have become scratchy and inconsistent!
In addition to the three standard potentiometer pins, you'll notice two extra pins toward the base of the pot - these extra pins are for wiring the off-on functionality of the pot. At the lowest range of travel, the pot 'clicks' off - rotating the pot 'on' from the full-off (full-counterclockwise) position will 'click' on. These can be used directly on guitars / bass guitars / other instruments to add functionality without having to drill out new switch locations, or to add an off/on function (or any other expanded functionality) to an effect pedal. For automotive/computer applications, I've used these to control dimmers (adjust brightness), with the additional functionality as an on-off switch.
